I had never been aware of this release until seeing it on Youtube, maybe it was brought to my attention, but I disregarded it earlier on and never thought I would ever actually be able to hear this material. This is the earliest incarnation of Antestor as far as I am concerned.
This is much more barbaric and unhinged, maybe a little atune with Martryium, but this is far more primitive and definitely in the doom and death territory. (maybe even bordering thrash) The vocals are loud and abrasive, and the instrumentation is nothing extraordinary, but there are actually some good arrangements here and there that do give you an idea of what their sound eventually does become.
I guess the material is nothing groundbreaking or much, that I find that I absolutely need, but this is fun and interesting to hear just for pure legacy of such a credible and amazing band. Maybe I will get some slack for not giving it more praise, I really am curious now to see what kind of reviews this material received. If nothing more this is some rare material that might just ease an itch for some much needed new Antestor music.
Its also worth mentioning the vocals are much more coherent and his enunciation of words and everything seems much more distinct here than in future releases, I do have my ill opinions, but something about this does deliver a lot of admiration and respect, much of the same I carry over to the band Extol. And that cover is hilarious I really do think the Antestor name and desire to mold into more traditional black metal band was a good trajectory.
