In terms of the death and black metal iterations of music containing themes and lyrics that are both biblical and positive representations of God and Christ, there is a limited amount. Especially in regards to quality. I could be being too harsh with thinking this, but considering the year and time span of both genres, we have seen a colossal upsurge in the amount of bands and albums.
When it comes to Cataclysmic Warfare this band filled an itch for me, that I thought not possible. And that is in terms of blackened death metal. Upon initial listening this does give me a feeling of the same love I had for Embrace of Thorns. This is very much what they call “war metal” or even “bestial”.
What is most surprising to me about this band and project that is lead by only one person. Whether or not he received help or not is unknown to me. But he goes by the aliases of Exterminator of Serpents, and “Mauvais Noir“. Nothing is much known about him. I did have the privilege of speaking to him over youtube live a few times, and he seemed very open and genuine both about his beliefs and metal music.
I do digress. This short EP only lasting about 12 minutes. It hits you quickly and leaves you desiring more.
Perhaps looking into his full length release from 2025 will satiate you.
Also keep in mind he has numerous other projects such as Antiviper and Marble Tomb.
