Death Warrant 1990 movie

A lot of people jostle together the typical Van Damme films together. You are no doubt going to hear Bloodsport, and for good reason, its not a bad film in its own right. But it isn’t quintessential Van Damme. It needs some grit, a little more vulgarities and an overall lack of humanity. This is where I think Death Warrant takes the title. Oh and by the way, this is all just bullshit, my opinion means jack spit in the grand scheme of things.

The movie focuses around whoever Van Damme’s character is named, is it Keane? Keanen? I honestly cannot remember and don’t care enough to check. He is a detective, and he just took down one of the biggest and baddest criminals, the Sandman!

While we don’t ever see much of Sandman, he does have a big part of this film, but I will try to avoid saying much more than that. PLEASE BE AWARE FROM THIS POINT FORWARD THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!

Basically there is a string of murders that are unrelenting and arouse suspicion, so they send Van Damme in to investigate. He gets a fake criminal charge, of home invasion. And we learn then, that; that is a satisfactory and considered, “cool” crime, to prisoners.

When he gets in he meets all kinds of characters, that you would no doubt actually probably find in prison. The most animated and hilarious is, “priest”. Not an actual priest but a homosexual and a man with lots of inside information.

This is where we learn that the string of bodies showing up dead, for no apparent reason. Are all for an underground organ trade business. Basically the corrupt prison is murdering inmates and then selling the organs in the black market.

This is especially important because the exact people who sent Van Damme into prison in the first place, are actually using him as bait because he has AB- blood type. This is what they need for his ailing wife.

Seems perfect on paper, but Van Damme is just too much of a badass. And he starts unrevealing everything.

This is when they send the Sandman to the prison, to try and sort things out and get Van Damme murdered. Well its an epic fight in the end. A lot of people do die along the way. The movie is hilarious, and its got enough vulgarities and slop to keep me entertained.

I miss the 90s and 80s for that matter. Films were great back then! we know homosexuals for what they are, shameful degenerates. And if somebody wants to be racist and look ignorant on film, they weren’t at all afraid to.

Love this movie, maybe for all the wrong reasons. But I give it an almost perfect score of 4 and a 1/2 van damme’s. (5 being perfect)

Also on a side note this does remind me of a villain from the Punisher, “jigsaw”. No matter how you spin it, its just some sadistic bastard that is hard to kill.
