In Ukraine it has got to be Nokturnal Mortum.
In Russia for me, it has to be Gosudar. I learned about this band from reading an old metal zine. I forget the name of it. Probably something along the lines of, “nihilistic we hate Christians etc etc”. I am only kidding, but seriously the genre of death metal is no stranger to anti-christian rhetoric. From what I understand this band too does a good deal of hating Christianity as well. Its in the pedigree and the scene at large, its unavoidable. This has less to do with that, and more to do with Gosudar themselves.
The music here is actually more inspired and original, than most death metal. And I don’t want to harp on this too much. Because I already see the disaster that came with my exposure to the band Dead Congregation. Honestly, it is human beings who ruin this music for me.
I don’t mean to sound like a cunt, or an elitist, but seriously when I have to contend with the dick weeds that listen to this music, it does become more frustrating than encouraging.
All of this aside, the music herein is nothing short of old school death metal. If I had not known for myself, this was recorded in mid to later 2000’s I would be none the wiser. For me what makes this great, is the fact that they weave together some elements of guitar strumming and intoxicating melodies. The gutturals in this are an instrument in themselves. The variation, and the odd time signatures and moments leave me addicted and hooked.
Honestly, being a listener of death metal since the mid 90s. It takes a lot to perk my ears up, this band managed to do that.
And believe me, as mentioned earlier the lyrical content is of no interest.
В Україні це має бути Ноктурнал Мортум. У Росії для мене це має бути Государ. Я дізнався про цей гурт, читаючи старий метал-журнал. Я забув назву. Ймовірно, щось на кшталт «нігілістично, ми ненавидимо християн тощо». Жартую, але серйозно, жанр дез-металу добре знайомий з антихристиянською риторикою. З того, що я розумію, цей гурт теж багато ненавидить християнство. Це в родоводі та сцені загалом, це неминуче. Це менше пов’язано з цим, а більше з самими Государами. Музика тут насправді більш натхненна і оригінальна, ніж у більшості дез-металу. І я не хочу надто зациклюватися на цьому. Бо я вже бачу катастрофу, яка прийшла з моїм знайомством із гуртом Dead Congregation. Чесно кажучи, саме люди псують цю музику для мене. Я не хочу звучати як придурок чи елітар, але серйозно, коли мені доводиться мати справу з тими ідіотами, які слухають цю музику, це стає більше розчаровуючим, ніж заохочуючим. Окрім усього цього, музика тут — це справжній олдскульний дез-метал. Якби я сам не знав, що це було записано в середині або наприкінці 2000-х, я б і не здогадався. Для мене те, що робить цю гру чудовою — це те, що вони переплітають елементи гітарного перебору та захопливих мелодій. Гортанні звуки тут самі по собі є інструментом. Варіації, а також дивні розміри та моменти залишають мене залежним і захопленим. Чесно кажучи, я слухаю дез-метал з середини 90-х. Потрібно багато зусиль, щоб зацікавити мої вуха, цей гурт це зробив. І повірте, як уже згадувалося, ліричний зміст не цікавий.
