Let me start with a little bit of chitter chatter in concern of this genre. Because I am not entirely sure myself? I know when I got into hardcore it was more traditional. But this almost lends me back to the days of Dillinger Escape Plan… and for whatever reason, I never really caught on with any of that. For me, I also did get really excited about bands like Capitalist Casualties. I think the term they used for their music, was “power violence”.
I am not sure how I would describe Pipe Bomb, but it is chaotic and relentless. Ya know, now thinking back, maybe even Training for Utopia could even add some volume in the mix. Really its not about labeling and picking bands, but for the fun of it, I went ahead and did it anyway. Please don’t let any of that steal any thunder from Pipe Bomb! because this arsenal and full artillery unit, is nothing but ammunition for shutting the faces of evil lunatics who have nothing better to do than bad mouth suburban Christians from getting to church on Sunday.
What is all this talk about violence anyway? aren’t we Christians supposed to be loving and inviting types? well yes, but for the better or worse parts of this year and timeline of our human struggle. We are nothing but wars, battle of sexuality and the sexes in general. Humanity today is downright depraved and its about damn time, we got some music to filter out some of this nonsense.
I was happy to find this band. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but when I saw charon collective talking about Pipe Bomb’s I knew maybe something magical was at work. And sure enough! its a legendary debut and a helluva lot of noise and chaos to have.
This was a release that I wasn’t expecting, and didn’t know that I needed. God bless the man behind this. And here’s hoping for many more releases to come.
