If you are interested in playing an alternative to retro-arch, I recommend biz-hawk. Its a lot more stable and less intrusive. It doesn’t have net-play, but it does have the addition of retro-achievements.
I don’t like retro-arch specifically because of the controller options. Its not lucrative and adapt to the actual key bindings, and its confusing as all hell.
Honestly, I would rather just stick with mednafen but that doesn’t include retro achievements.
I am putting this all here, because yes, it would be nice to see friends and others scores and where we are ranking at within specific games. A little healthy competition, I am not at all complete in my scoring or rankings. By any means, and honestly, I don’t expect to compete with anyone. I just want to beat the games, and this is a good way to get record of that.

there are four files there, choose whether or not you have windows or a Linux operating system. You can grab source code as well, its not necessary, but if you want to look around its there.

the biggest issue you may encounter is finding the firmware for consoles, I recommend using
https://archive.org/ and searching for the bios/firmware files there.
In a lot of cases you will be able to find one single zip that includes an entire selection of the required consoles.

I do enjoy this emulator, but am at a loss without SSF for the Saturn emulation. Shima did his damndest with that single emulator. Next to only Mednafen.
I am not certain how accurate the Saturn emulation is versus console. But I can contest there is a little significant change in transparency and maybe frame rate.
