Growing up in michigan, it wasn’t really a odd occurance to travel over this bridge. I used to camp and vacation in the upper pennisula as a kid. And would take the boat over to mackinac island. I loved it, and I cannot deny adrenaline and excitement and fear that would come over me while heading up over that bridge.

I think my brother even rode his motorcycle over the bridge. And I know for certain my cousin and his wife walk over it when they allow the public to do that once a year.

One person died on Tuesday, Nov. 4, after jumping from the Mackinac Bridge, the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office said on Nov. 5. -lansing state journal

When I heard about this it really shocked me. Because this is not something I am used to hearing about. I know it happens semi-frequently on the golden gate bridge. But I was unaware of any suicides on the Mackinac.

Suicide is something I am not stranger to. I tried to seriously take my life 3 maybe 4 times. I have been in comas, survived car wrecks. And I tried to hang myself once, I actually passed out while hanging. When I woke up I was laying on the floor and had serious bruises around my neck. I had no recollection of what happened. I remember coming out of comas in the hospital, and seeing hallucinations and experiancing voices and things.

God has had a hand on my life, He is not interested in seeing me go. I even remember back in GR when I tried to hang myself off a bridge. Fortunately a man his son stopped and talk to me. Prior to going to do that, people at the bus terminal actually encouraged me to kill myself.

That man and his son were christians. I hadn’t experienced love like that from strangers.

Suicide is serious, and its not worth it. Your life does have purpose, and it comes from God, particularly the death and resurrection of Christ.

You might know from around the internet, I talk a lot. And I don’t mean to offend or ever think anyone’s life doesn’t have purpose. Hell is real, and the same human concious that delivers these words to my fingers. Is the same human conscious that will go to a place heaven or hell when this human husk expires. The spirit, soul all of it, is real. And it is explained perfectly in the bible.

Hebrews 4:12

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

This verse distinguishes soul and spirit as deeply connected yet separable under divine discernment.

Genesis 2:7

“Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”

Here, the body (dust), spirit/breath (from God), and resulting living soul (being) together form a complete person — the foundation for the tripartite concept seen in later Scripture.

Ecclesiastes 12:7

“Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.”

This reinforces the idea that the spirit comes from and returns to God, distinct from the body that returns to dust.

🕊️ Spirit, Soul, and Body Together

1 Thessalonians 5:23

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

💨 Spirit

Genesis 2:7

“Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”

Ecclesiastes 12:7

“Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.”

Zechariah 12:1

“Thus declares the Lord who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him.”

Job 32:8

“But it is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.”

Romans 8:16

“The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God.”

James 2:26

“For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.”

❤️ Soul

Genesis 35:18

“It came about as her soul was departing (for she died), that she named him Ben-oni; but his father called him Benjamin.”

Leviticus 17:11

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.”

Psalm 19:7

“The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.”

Psalm 42:11

“Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him.”

Matthew 10:28

“Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Hebrews 6:19

“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil.”

🩻 Body

Genesis 2:7

“Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground…”

Romans 12:1

“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.”

1 Corinthians 6:19–20

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.”

Philippians 3:21

“Who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.”

This topic always interested me. Because of reading the Normal Christian Life, and the Release of the Spirit by Watchman NeeNi Tuosheng, or Nee T’o-sheng (Chinese: 倪柝聲; pinyinNí Tuòshēng.

One thing I particularly liked about him, is not only his testimony. But also his writing style. He rarely ever spoke without referencing scripture. Sadly, he died in a chinese prison, alone.

He was offered freedom multiple times if he would renounce his faith or lead a government-sanctioned church, but he refused. His health deteriorated significantly over time, suffering from angina pectora and coronary ischaemia, and he was transferred to the Baimaoling Prison Labour Camp in Anhui Province in 1971. He died in confinement on May 30, 1972, at the age of 69, reportedly alone in his cell, with no funeral or announcement of his death. His remains were cremated on June 1, 1972, and his ashes were later buried in Soochow, Kiangsu province.
