That image above was me after sleeping several days on concrete. I was fortunate to have my jacket and sweatshirt, otherwise I would be sleeping with nothing but my tshirt and sweatpants. They do not accommodate you in there.
Oh and if you are hungry, its a slice of bologna between two pieces of white bread. If you are lucky you get a packet of mustard and slice of that disgusting chemical cheese that comes in that plastic.
The only positive to this experience, was that there was minimal riff raff in the holding cells. Usually you will encounter all kinds of knuckleheads, and not getting into a tussle or encouraging provocation is a learned discipline.

Once I was done with booking and actually in my post. Most time is spent in your cell. You only get a certain amount of hours every day. And its divided and changed between the upper and lower tiers. I was on the upper level.
You do get a tablet. Everything free on it, ranges from free domain reading material. Think books and things from the 1920s to the 1950s. Rarely you might find something from 1980s or onward. I was usually reading, because the video material killed the battery quickly. There is other content, ranging from education to religious.
I did have a bible, and I would spend my mornings reading through a proverb for the corresponding day. I remember this habit from the Denton Freedom House in Texas. I was also reading a lot from Acts while there. I did get into the book of Habakkuk and Revelations as well.
I did workout when I felt like it. Would usually just try and shot for 100 reps of push-ups and squats. It wasn’t so much physical, but more just to try and get my mind out of a depressive rut. Sadly towards the end of my sentence, we got a younger guy in there. And he was spastic case to say the least. I had to discipline myself to just do my best to avoid him. Because he had the ability to make me want to fight him. And that is the sad reality of jail.
Man the male gender. We are opportune to prove ourselves and a lot of times violence is a reasonable surrender. Reading the bible however, it tells us to not seek violence. But to try and love our enemies. In fact a reality of the proverbs, was something that would constantly ring in my head. And it was being being silent. And, “not entertain a fool”. The wise they will surrender and admit the necessity and need for council from somebody wiser. But a fool, they want nothing more than violence and provocation.
All in all it was very boring. And if you wanted to think about watching television. It was mostly always on a sports event, mostly basketball. In the rare case a movie was on, it was usually something that you would see repeated all throughout the week. I could count 3-4 different times seeing Forest Gump on.
The positive about this. Is that it does force you to read, and to dedicate and surrender yourself to activity’s like reading. Its amazing what the human is capable of when he doesn’t have distractions available like the computer and internet.
