Like this article, and 100’s of others just like this. Its overly saturated on the internet that people are speaking their opinion about why this console supposedly failed. I see it around the Shiro site, and countless other sega and saturn specific pages. Even on youtube its all over!
I personally cannot speak on this, because to me the saturn was a great console back at its release, and even today! maybe even more so now, then even then. But back then, the wave and flow of information wasn’t even close to what it is today.
But I will say, collecting and playing physical games was much more accessible and easier, and cheaper! I had multiple consoles myself, even eventually got a 4mb cart for xmen vs street fighter and some other imports. I am not sure if I used the swap method or had a cart that would allow me to play imports.
So in summary! the Sega Saturn did not fail! you might have failed it, but the Saturn was and is not a failure.
Between my Genesis, Dreamcast and Saturn, honestly I think my Saturn gets the most play time, period!
