Oblation 1994 Demo

Of course like many others I was put onto this band from the Chords of the Grave Compilation featuring many other Texas Death Metal, maybe even some other regions of the u.s. as well. But I know for certain Disencumbrance and Oblation are Texas natives, or at least I recall Billy Fraser saying so.

Speaking of Billy, he was the drummer from Oblation. I still am trying to dig into his solo work with Discern.

This is no frills (redundant much?) classic old school death metal. It has leads, solos and nice harmony and melody throughout all the while churning along with the blasts and pummeling drums.

I was always under the guise that Disencumbrance stole the show on that compilation, but now I am starting to be more and more persuaded by this Oblation demo material. Its really too bad they didn’t release a full length.

From what I understand the vocalist Mitch Reese is now an atheist? or should I say, he has always been an atheist. See Christians are not one and done, they remain true and faithful to the end. You don’t switch sides like a flavor of the month. These deluded heathens will have you believe otherwise.

I digress! this album is meat and potato’s! I love it. I give it 4 out of 5 roast beef.
