OVERCOME with excitment I am speaking about a band that needs little to no introduction, atleast in some circles that respect and appreciate music that doesn’t piggy back on the devil, instead they choose to call him out for what he is, a LIAR!
And yes, that was no accident when I mentioned Overcome, as its more than apparent after hearing this album that it does share in that pedigree of metal that tinged with hardcore. But like an answered prayer, they came out with this release. Because I remember after hearing and loving a lot of what Overcome was doing, I was thinking to myself, this would be great with some guttural vocals and maybe sped up with more double bass and blasting. Maybe even the riffs are down tuned a bit.
Sadly they only put out this release, but what a behemoth it is. In christian circles, this is definitely on any top 10 I make. I recall even speaking with some guys from the band, just geeking out over death metal, especially those in the secular circle. There really wasn’t much to go off of in the christian realm. Yes we have some choice picks, but as a whole the scene is rather small, especially in terms of quality acts.
Also you do hear Jason belting out his signature vocals and screaming, but in this he definitely took some lessons in how to make it sound metal. Not that it was off the mark with Overcome.
