Mortal Shell is a PC action adventure game, or as the world and internet as a whole likes to call it “souls like”. It does draw similarities specifically in difficulty, and it is a dark atmospheric game. I was actually pleasantly surprised by it when I was given a free copy on epicgames. And from what I am aware, it is really cheap now on steam.
What I am writing about today has more to do with the upcoming 2nd title, and less to do with the first installment of the game.

Many people may have noticed my criticism of their choice in using the polish FALSE “metal” band Borehemoth. And for good reason too! I remember when I was living in another city in Michigan, and a guy was so excited to share with me this band, when I told him I liked death metal, and metal music in general. The name and the reputation of the band was not made apparent to me, until I actually started to listen to some of their music. I was actually astounded at how simple and minimalist of a band they are. They choose routine and catchy moments to attract listeners.
They are overtly anti-Christian, and believe you and me, my choice in music is hardly all sunshine and roses. I have listened to some blasphemous and satanic lyrical metal bands. I was drawn less to the demonic, and more into the political and psychological approach to music, later on. And now I am most comfortable with music that encourages life and less of the fantasy and fiction.

For those not aware I have interviewed both Dead Congregation and Embrace of Thorns. I do legitimately and genuinely like their music. But lyrically do have my qualms. The thing a lot of people who listen to this music are not aware, is that some of these guys (not saying embrace of thorns or dead congregation) they do truly hate themselves and with that psychology it is no wonder they have such a hate and disgust with man.
The road I walk on and the one you walk, is not the same. We are all uniquely different. I cannot correct my past bad behavior and poor choices. But with the Lord finally on my side, or maybe me on His side, and my eyes and focus set doing His will and not mine.
I will be playing Mortal Shell II, and I do hope for good things from it. But the message is loud and clear we live in a satanic world. And the devil is not content until you are dead and in hell and separated from heaven and ultimately God.
Rotting c!@$ was also a commercial snore fest that was responsible for some of the music in Mortal Shell, unbeknownst to me. This makes a lot more sense when I got into a discussion with others, concerning the music choices. If you’re going to used depraved and pathetic sinful music, at least pick good bands. Poland and Greece are host of many great bands, albeit lyrically questionable.
The game devs must be “metal” heads, but their choice in music gives me wonder if its more for show and less of a genuine interest in the music.
This whole topic and discussion has been the topic and debate with every genre of music. Musical integrity versus show and gimmick. Hip hop versus rap, classic rock and metal versus newer rock/metal. As I am getting older I am starting to see and notice that there indeed a lot of music in this world, and as Dave Mustaine recently pointed out with Metallica not everyone is really onto anything new or innovative.
